Applicants under 16 years old need the following documents to apply for a passport in Nepal.

The initial step in applying for a passport in Nepal is to book an online appointment, after which you must visit the passport issuing office. Applicants need to scan all mandatory documents to complete the online passport application form, ensuring each file is less than 300 KB in size and in JPEG format.
You can capture images of your documents using a mobile phone or by importing them via a scanner. If the size of your document exceeds 300 KB, you can use mobile applications, online tools, or software installed on your PC, such as MS Paint or Adobe Photoshop to reduce the size of your documents.

After determining the location and scanning all the necessary documents, the applicant must apply for the online form by visiting the official website of Department of passports. You can use either a mobile phone or a laptop to complete the online application form.

Click on apply for ePassport.

Pre-enrollment of e-passport portal will be activated. Now, Click on apply for Passport.

Click on your desired application type.

Select the Number of pages options from the following available Passport types.

1. 1. Ordinary 34 Pages
   2. Ordinary 66 Pages

Select the pages options and click on proceed button.

Agree the terms and conditions by clicking on I agree button.

Choose the nearest enrollment center to your location then click on Next button.

Select the desired date and time to apply for your passport then Enter Captcha, Retype the characters from the picture and click on next button.

Enter your Citizenship Information and National ID number.

Enter your contact number, make sure you will enter your personal phone no and email address.

Enter your contact details in case of emergency and click on next button.

File attachmet menu will be activated. Upload your required documents and click on next button.

Check all the entered information is accurate, if any changes needed then you can hit edit button and correct your form. After checking and correcting enter Captcha and click on save button.

Click on Finish Button.

You can now download PDF, Online appointment for Passport in Nepal.

After Downloading this PDF print the document and visit to enrollment center for your biometric. Make sure to take all your photocopy and original documents during visiting enrollment center. You can pay taxes in Bank counter then proceed for biometric to complete your process.

After downloading your online appointment, visit portal for Passport online Payment 

Copy your reference ID located below your online appointment paper.

Paste reference ID and click on Get Details & Make Payment By reference Number

You now need to review and create online voucher in order to proceed for online payment. Click on Create Voucher and Proceed button.

Click on Checkout button.

Select payment option and complete your payment.

After completing your payment online, click on check status button. You can see your application is paid and approved .You now can download payment receipt by clicking on Print Bill button.

After clicking on check status you will get a link to downlod your online payment receipt. Print this receipt.

Print your Online Appointment paper, Online Payment Bill, Photocopy all your original documents and Visit Department of Passports (DOP) or District administration office (DAO) enrollment center in your desired date and time.

Nepali passports are processed in two different locations in Nepal depending upon your urgency. Below are the locations where you can apply for a passport in Nepal.

 Department of passports (DOP)

You can apply for an emergency passport at the Department of Passport, located in Tripureshwor, Kathmandu. After scheduling an online appointment and visiting for biometrics, you can expect to receive your passport within two working days. The government tax for applying for a passport here is high as compared to applying from the district administrative office.

District administrative office (DAO)

You can apply for normal passports at the district administrative office (DAO). To begin, simply book an appointment online and then visit the DAO for biometrics. You can expect to receive your passport within a month after processing. If you are not in a hurry to obtain a passport, the DAO is the most suitable option for your application.
